About us

ElectronicDrumSets.net is a small independent site about electronic drum kits for people who play at home. That means adult beginners, returning drummers, parents buying a first kit for a child, and anyone trying to practice without upsetting the neighbors.

The site is written by Gamma Bear. That is a pen name, and I use it on purpose. I would rather you judge the pages by what is on them than by a face or a job title.

Who I am

I have spent a long time around electronic kits, the people who buy them and the forums where owners talk about what works and what breaks. I am not a touring drummer or a gear engineer. I am the friend you would ask before buying a kit, the one who has read the manual, compared the spec sheets and knows which hi-hat controller owners keep complaining about.

The site exists because most kit advice online falls into two camps. Some of it is written by experts for experts and assumes you already know what a three-zone ride is. The rest is thin product lists with no real downsides. I wanted something in between: plain language, honest trade-offs and practical detail about real rooms and real budgets.

How I research

I want to be clear about this, because it matters.

I do not test kits hands-on. The reviews and roundups on this site are not lab tests or studio sessions, and no page claims that I played or measured a kit. Every page says “Based on specs and owner reviews” in the byline, because that is exactly what it is.

Instead, every page is built from:

When sources disagree, I use the manufacturer’s numbers and mention the disagreement if it affects the buying decision. When a model is discontinued or replaced, I say so.

Every page shows when it was last updated and when the specs were checked. The “Our score” number on product cards is my editorial judgment built from those sources, not a measurement. The full selection and scoring process is on the how we choose page.

How the site makes money

ElectronicDrumSets.net is free to read. It is paid for by affiliate commissions. When you click a link to a retailer and buy something, the retailer may pay the site a small commission. The price you pay does not change.

Commissions do not decide what gets recommended or how a product is scored. Kits with weak points get those weak points listed, whether or not the site earns from them. The details are on the affiliate disclosure page.

No brand pays for placement, and no product page on this site is a paid review.

Product images are free stock photos with a commercial license or manufacturer press photos credited with their source. Amazon product images appear only through Amazon’s own tools.
